Monitor your horse's drinking. Under normal activity, horses should drink 6-10 gallons of water daily. Other factors such as strenuous competition, humidity, lactation, and temperature can increase a horse's water intake. Low water intake can cause serious health concerns for you horse such as muscle fatigue, colic, dehydration, shock and in extreme cases, death.
